well, actually the first owner of the yacht Mrs. Richard M. Cadwalader who was grandchild of Brooklyn Bridge's engineer. Costed her about 10 million dollar. She used it seldomly and after 7 years USA wanted very high taxes for the yacht so that she sold it to Republic of Turkiye with a price of 1,250 million dollars for the use of Ataturk. The yacht was made in Germany and Herr Hitler liked it very much wanted to own it so that he told the officers to sequester the yacht. Franklin D. Roosevelt had a great sympathy for Ataturk and he wasn't liking Hitler. So he told Hitler to void the sequestration otherwise USA would sequester a german transatlantic which was in USA at the moment. Hitler had to void the sequester of the yacht. The yacht was the longest yacht of the world for a long time with a length of 136 m. Built in 1931. 260 tones of marbels were used in the baths. It has 2 caterpillar engines with 3500 horsepower each. Ataturk stayed in the yacht for 54 days and close to his death he said that "I was waiting this yacht as a kid who waits for the toy, but it had been a hospital for me". You can visit Savarona and see Ataturk's room with its original goods. Source: Eksi Sozluk
