Solar water-heating?, in Antakya from the hotel.

Thanks to Dick Osseman for his explanation, at bottom of page, that these are probably solar water-
heating screens and tanks. I've added a closeup (next photo) to highlight the example Dick points
us to and to show the difference between sets used on two buildings.

Hi, Andrys, I think it's solar heating of water. Water is heated in the flat screens standing under a 45 degrees' angle (or more flat, I think Iit has to do with lattitude) and collected in the tanks (barrel construction) on top of them. Another, cage like construction will contain the machine to pump it around. This way, you get hot water for showers, the dishes and all that. I don't think i't's used to generate electricity, thought with falling prices for collectors that will come soon. TV is still done with the half-domes reaching for the skies you can see everywhere (but not on this picture). I think the whole system is best seen in the construction in the top middle of the picture.
