HK Moths

This is a gallery to help people with identification - it is certainly not a collection of aesthetically pleasing images. Corrections to IDs are very welcome. Many moths have kindly been identified for me by Roger Kendrick. All the mistakes, as they say, are my own. All these moths have been photographed at or near my home in the Sai Kung area of Hong Kong

Hi Andrew. Loved your collection and your beautiful clear shots, I've also been shooting moths in the light trap that is the stairwell of my home on the edges of the jungle near Shing Mun Reservoir, How do you get your moths identified？ Is there an easy way? Yes!! Please!! It is really a tremendous treasure you have here with all this great pictures AND IDed moths!! I would like to encourage you to make some "folders" with the different families and I am sure you will be soon famous for your library!! Did we convince you?? Cheers!!

very nice collection, is there any way to see specific families or even genera? It is a bit counter productive to have to sift through so many pics, if you already IDed your critter to family...

You have done a great job to collecting all those moths, think about the creater who has created You and me and and the havens and earth and the sun ,moon and all those moths , He has created everything for a purposse yet we dont no, he is Allah The all maghty,there is no one beside him,

Wonderful photo collection. But, as a suggestion, it might be more useful as an ID tool if you rearranged your thumbnails into (at least) family groups, as much as possible. Geometridae, Crambidae, etc.

Thank you Richard. They are frequently written off as little brown night-flying brown jobs but actually moths are often beautiful.
