This set-up used a 12.5x Periplan eyepiece for image projection to the camera, a 12.5x apo objective and between the binocular headpiece and the microscope was a direct illumination attachement that projections light down through the objective. It is believed to be for an infinity system (it is marked, 1x with the infinity symbol) so this likely explains the poor performance on this 170mm system.
