DSLR versus P&S versus non-DSLR

The images were shot in RAW, converted in PS CS4 to uncompressed jpegs. 60% sharpening added to each one. In the 800 ISO set, I let the cameras do the exposure. In the 200 ISO set, I exposed each one with the same exposure and f-stop.

*Please note slight motion blur in the Nikon D300 200 ISO image.

Even at 200 ISO the LX3 falls short. Notice the obliteration of brickwork detail in the walls?

For the 100 ISO crops, I added a sharpening pass to the LX3 image as it was not sharp enough even after the RAW was given 60% sharpening in PS CS4. Each image was exposed at 1/20th second at f8.0.
It's possible diffraction might have dulled-down the LX3 image as f8 is probably pushing what the small sensor is capable of dealing with.

LX3 at f5.0 displays better edge definition than the G1 and its kit lens at f7.1.  However, the LX3 lens also shows more colour error than the G1 kit lens.
