Basil Flower

About two months ago I bought basil with roots attached at the Supermarket.
The plant looked pretty sad, but Adelaida planted it in a pot anyway.
After about a week the plant revived and is now a thriving bush.
The fact that it has flowered is a very good sign. The pot is large and it has plenty of room to grow.

I recognized the flower right away. I have Sweet and Asian basil both. Although growing in a big pot, they have been so happy that they spread to the other planters and even in the sidewalk cracks. Prolific in the right conditions. V

Sadly once it flowers it's going to seed and it's life will end. The leaves will become fewer and lose much of their flavour.
Of course you could harvest the seeds and start a new plant from them.

They are lovely flowers and it's a pretty macro look at them, Walter. V

Plant rescue! Good to hear it is thriving. A basil plant will pay you back, lots of great Pesto in your future? V
