Outer Fortification

Parts of these fortifications may date from the 13th Century. They fell into disuse by the 18th Century and by then the tops of the towers and walls were removed.
The photo also offers a glimpse of the new Palas (Living Building) built in the 16th Century.
More expansive views were impossible to achieve as I was standing on the edge of steep hill which was further mode of a defense.
