Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED VR Zoom

The oldest Nikon "VR" lens, often described as being slow to focus, hunting for focus and not being sharp beyond 300mm.
I disagree with all three of these criticisms. If you know what you're doing the focus is fast, and if you use the correct camera settings it doesn't hunt.
Yes, it could be sharper at the outer reaches, and yes it would be nice to have a faster aperture than f/4.5-f/5.6.
