Helms Bakery Coach, Culver City, California

Helms Bakery used these coaches to deliver bread in the Los Angeles area.
The driver would blow a whistle and the customers could then wave down the coach and purchase the baked goods.
The advent of Supermarkets, high costs and cheaper bread by the competition put Helms out of business in 1969.
Today the sprawling bakery complex is occupied by furniture showrooms, galleries, restaurants etc.
A lot of the history of the bakery has also been preserved. I came across this delivery coach in a furniture showroom while searching for bookshelves.
