Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)

view map

Well, actually this pedestrian bridge crosses Harbor Drive connecting the Waterfront with the East Village.
It only opened last month. At 550 feet, the bridge is one of the longest self-anchored pedestrian suspension bridges in the world.
The bridge was constructed at a cost of $26.8 million, $11.1 million of which came from private donations.

a comparison is always difficult to make
this is a high tech bridge and the bridge over the river Kwai is a bridge full of pain
but a very nice shot of the bridge
