December 15

Christmas came early

My new Manfrotto 468MGRC0 Hydrostatic Ballhead with RC0 Quick Release.
I was using a three-way Manfrotto 229 Super Pro Head also with RC0 Quick Release, which weighed 4 1/2 lbs., was solid as a rock, but was too heavy to carry around long.
It was killing me on the recent long beach walks to get the sunset shots.
I like the Manfrotto Hexagonal Plates and Quick Release best as they lock in place solidly, release quickly and can take a lot of weight.
The 468MGRC0 Ballhead is rated to 35.2 lbs. / 16 kg, and as Phillip Normanton astutely pointed out, it has a huge knob.

A great tool for great compos. Together with Your macro-equipment the results should be excellent. Rgds Norbi

Yay, it's arrived! The huge knob is warm to the touch too - very important feature in the winter months :o) Hope it works out for you!

gear envy is setting in...makes my 352RC seem so antiquated...this should be a great pairing with the D700...did it come with a shoulder strap?

Boy, it sure does look solid. I'm wondering how my little Sony HX5 would look on that. :)
