The New Point Loma Lighthouse
This Lighthouse replaced the old one. It was built in 1891 closer to sea level to replace the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, that was ineffective due to elevation (fog).
The lighthouse was fully automated in 1973. The grounds are not accessible to the public.
Today, the keepers’ quarters continue to house Coast Guard officers, who are fortunate to enjoy the prime oceanfront property.
