Yoga nudes

"The poses look great. That's one of the things I really enjoy with yoga - as Baron Baptiste once commented, "There is no right pose, only the pose that's right for you." I suppose yoga and model photography aren't too dissimilar, since both include an element of exploration of movement and positioning of the human body. The pictures may not capture the Iyengar-esque perfection of a pose as one might for a cover of Yoga Journal or such, but your photos and models convey that exploration of physicality and movement that is one of the key components of yoga. The images in your yoga galleries captures that exploration of form and movement nicely. Polished photos like those in yoga books with folks that can strike a posture perfectly are nice, but I think images like yours that capture a wide array of people experimenting with yoga postures captures more of a raw, natural element of yoga. It also conveys an idea that I love about yoga, that it can be adapted for anyone, that it's not about the perfect pose, but about tuning into your body and its capabilities and needs. I also think that the use of yoga with nude photography is also very appealing, since yoga seeks to let the practitioner get to the roots of their body and movement, to get in touch with a natural state of moving and being. The natural state of the models reflects the natural state of movement yoga cultivates and explores. There actually are classes here and there that teach yoga in the nude. But, as an artist and someone that grew up with National Geographics and such, I don't care for the blatant, obvious, and rather unartistic ways in which the female figure is often presented to us these days. Artful, tasteful, innocent nudity is, in my opinion, much more enticing. I like your yoga pictures in particular because I think they convey a kind of reverence for the physical body in general, as well as the models you are
photographing... the human body as a work of art..."

So wrote a fellow Pbaser in his recent and highly appreciated comments to me. Enjoy!
