Rudy & Joe Morano

Our paths crossed again after Farrell, during the spring semester of our sophomore year at Syracuse University, where Joe and I discovered each other in an Italian language class, and that literally changed the course of my life. Joe told me about a great professor, John Hodgson, who taught a 'gut' - easy - course, called Soviet Foreign Policy - an easy A grade was yours for the picking. Joe also suggested we sign up for Russian language class the following fall, during our Junior year. I did both and while Joe flagged out of the russki yazik (russian language) class, I not only earned that easy A in Soviet Foreign Policy - and acquired a mentor in Professor Hodgson and earned three more A's in his classes - but I also earned an A in Russian that semester and three subsequent semesters, which led me to a Master's in Russian Studies at G'town. I came down to DC in the summer of 1985 and the capital city has been my home ever since. Had it not been for Joe, I have no idea where my life path would have led to... Thanks, Joe!
