Where does the session take place?
The session may take place in my studio or on location.
How long do sessions last?
Sessions may last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes.
How far in advance should I schedule my session?
Sessions are usually booked up approximately 3-4 weeks in advance, so please schedule as early as possible to ensure there are openings for your desired session date.
What time should I arrive for my session?
Please arrive at the scheduled time. All sessions are by appointment only.
Do you shoot black and white or color?
Any image can be prepared in color or black and white. Samples can be provided upon request.
Clothing:
What colors are best for color portraits?
Memorable portraits take careful planning, and the clothing you choose is very important to your portrait's success. With two or more subjects, it is especially important to dress in similar blending colors. For example, a light colored shirt with beige khaki pants or even blue jeans for a more casual look works well. People viewing your portraits should immediately be drawn to your face and eyes. Stripes, paisley patterns, etc. should be avoided since they distract from your face!
Outdoor shots usually have "busy" backgrounds. It is important to choose only one or two theme colors, with your subjects wearing shades of those colors. While blues are excellent all year, ivory, khaki and salmon are great against such lush green foliage. Burgundy, brown, tan, and gray are nice late in the season. Bare feet are preferred over shoes for outdoor photography.
General Fashion Suggestions for a Successful Portrait:
Avoid busy patterns and bright colors.
Light colors are best with light backgrounds and fair complexions.
Darker colors look better with deep backgrounds and dark hair or complexions.
White, ivory, khaki, or pastels are best with a white background.
Avoid wearing yellow or green as they can adversely affect skin color.
Shoes or socks should be in key.
Powder is the ingredient that is often overlooked. Insufficient powder may cause the face to appear excessively shiny when photographed.
After The Session:
When can I see my proofs?
Approximately 1 week after your appointment. Images are uploaded to my website so that you can view them online and share them with distant family members. All session galleries are password protected so you can feel confident that your images are not available to the general public.
How long will my images be archived?
All images are archived for 45 days after a session.
How long does it take to receive my ordered portraits?
Quality takes time. Please allow 3-4 weeks for your order to be completed. Some orders may take longer. Your portraits are an investment and an heirloom that we do not want to rush.

Can I scan or copy my prints?
It is ILLEGAL to reproduce any portraits or scan professional images without written permission from Amal Elaine Photography. Occassionally I will grant permission for an image to be reproduced, for example, for a church directory. Permission for use of an image will be provided in writing. I have strict standards over the print quality of my images and I guarantee that images produced by me are of the highest quality.
All images are protected by federal copyright laws. Copying of any kind is strictly prohibited.
