Otta and Vågåmo 2010 (Norway)

In order to reach Jotunheimen National Park, we first had to spend some time in the lovely towns of Otta and Vågåmo. These towns are just as I imagined Norway's country side would be. Beautiful!

Wikipedia says about Otta:

"Otta is a town in the municipality of Sel in the county of Oppland in Norway. It has about 2,750 inhabitants. Next to Otta lies the massive Rondane, which became the first national park in Norway in 1962, and which has several mountains over 2,000 metres.

In 1612, it was the site of the Battle of Kringen."

Wikipedia says about Vågåmo:

"Vågåmo is the administrative centre of Vågå municipality, in Oppland county. Norway. Its population (SSB 2005) is 1,463. The village is located at the outlet of Lake Vågåvatn in the Otta valley. The Otta River and Highway 15 pass through the village.

Vågåmo is home to a local museum, the Jutulheimen Bygdemuseum, and to the historical Klones farm which is also the location of the Nord-Gudbrandsdalens videregående skole (North Gudbrandsdal Highschool) which specializes in agriculture. The Klones farm dates back to the 15th century and has been the location of the school since 1919. In Vågåmo there are plenty of parties every day and night, so there is always something to do there. There are also many horses and a store named Jutulbue there."

I have to say that somehow we managed to miss that plethora of parties in Vågåmo :)
