On an extremely wet morning, 11th November....our Rememberance Day and a Polish public holiday....
as it set off from Wawel Castle battlements. The procession paused at the Katyn Cross in the un-named square below the castle, in front of St. Giles Church. A short ceremony there dedicated and renamed the square in honour of Father Adam Studzinski.
Father Adam was first ordained as a Dominican priest in 1937, and was chaplain of the Polish Armed Forces during World War II. He served in Palestine and later took part in the Italian Campaign, including the Battle of Monte Cassino. For his war service Father Studziński was given several Polish military and state honors, including the Cross of Valour. He was also awarded several British honours. In his later years he remained active in veterans' organizations and in Polish scouting. In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of general in the Polish Army. He also studied art conservation at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków ,worked to renovate the Dominican monastery and St. Guy's Catholic Church in Krakow, and was made an honorary citizen of Krakow in 1999. Father Adam died in Krakow last year at the age of 97.
Honestly if it were my choice I would move all these celebrities in to nearest beer pub and have more fun inside. Look at their faces, nobody seems to enjoy this wet-run kinda show ?! V
