CELETNA

Prague - Czech Republic

The Powder Tower is in the background.
Celetna street in the Old Town is one of the oldest in the city and has several architecturally and historically important houses. It is named after the plaited bread rolls first baked here in the Middle Ages. Examples of Romanesque style may be found in the basement of almost every house on this street. Many of them are currently used as wine bars and restaurants because over the centuries the ground level of the street has sunk by several metres.
