The Jewel House at the Tower of London has been used for the secure storage of all precious ceremonial objects, commonly known as the Crown Jewels, since the early 14th century, when the alternative store at Westminster Abbey was found to be unsafe. Although attempts have been made to steal the Crown Jewels from the Tower, none have ever succeeded.
