TOWN HALL RENAISSANCE SECTION

Belgium

The town hall in Ghent was built over a long period of time. A late Gothic section was built from 1482-1539. This lefthand renaissance-style side was constructed in 1635, with eighteenth century additions. At the beginning of the 19th century the staircase on the front of the hall was restructured for a visit by Napoleon.
