The old church of St. Sebastian, located at the eastern entrance road into Pettneu, was mentioned in records of 1602 as then being dilapidated with age. It had suffered much damage from avalanches and mudslides. The new St. Sebastian church was completed in 1900. However the main altar is that from the old chapel.
