The Gothic Knights' Hall on the Binnenhof's central courtyard, which was built in the 13th century as a banqueting. The hall is used for the state opening of Parliament when the Queen drives to Parliament in her golden coach and delivers the speech from the throne. Over the centuries it has served a variety of purposes, including as a market hall and a public record office.
