We had a couple of surprise visitors yesterday......this beautiful swan couple.
They had stopped the traffic waddling down the road, then ten minutes later there they were waddling back up the road! They came on to the green in front of our house, ate some grass & plants, rested and then had a lengthy wash & brushup. They took little notice of me coming to within a few feet of them while I took over 60 pictures (will have to compile a little gallery of the event). After about half an hour they moved off to waddle up the road again.... again stopping the traffic. The river is about half a mile up the road...I hope they found their way on to it from the road bridge, unless they preferred one of the ponds on the common just before this, but I think they are probably too small for them. Why they decided to go for this long walk is a mystery.
