Taking advantage of Thanksgiving holidays, my housemate and I traveled to Mexico from California for 4 days. Driving into Mexico is as easy as driving across any states within US - meaning there is no immigration check point at all. But that's not the case when returning to US. Traffic was really bad on the returning day. We got stuck in the traffic for 4 hours just to move 2miles to the US immigration check point.
The first stop was Rosarito, followed by Ensenada and finally Tijuana before returning to California. All the stores in these places accept US dollars. So, things are not really cheap here.
