very nice composition.

Excellent shot Alina! Working with 800 to get some DoF straight into the sun and knocking the exposure down to the dirt gave you terrific results. Gutsy optical settings. I'll lend you my red and white cane someday; my dog couldn't stand me so she ran away ;-) Fine shot! g

Lovely image, Alina. Sometimes we shoot without forethought, and sometimes we have images in mind we have viewed before. No matter which, you have given us a very dramatic and atypical sunset image that is your own and stands alone. I would have loved to have been beside you to view this incredible setting sun.

Amaizing shot !!!! V

Beautiful sunset composition and color, Alina. In my mind the trees play as much a role as the clouds in making this so effective. Had the sun been totally above the trees, I think the image would have been less powerful. Vote

Thanks for the additional info on this image, Alina. I am delighted that my Chinese sunset image has inspired this image. Your decision to make your foreground black to blend with the pbase page is sound -- you have not altered the facts of the image by manipulating the image. You have only enhanced its presentation.

Excellent shot. The sphere that is the sun is an excellent capture here. V!

Thank you Phil, while shooting that picture I was inspired by your latest sunset photohttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/86308971 there your sun is partially covered with clouds and foreground gives us China taste. In Photoshop I only made my foreground completely black to connect that part of the photo with PBase’s black background.

Magnificent, Alina. It is so powerfully rich in scale incongruity (the enormous sun against the small clouds and trees) that some might even think this image was made out of two images in photoshop, but I am sure that you would have said so in your caption if that was the case. I can only assume that this is what you saw through your lens. You use a 300mm focal length, which on your camera is the equivalent of 450mm in 35mm terminology. The long focal length makes the sun appear huge. I love the gradations of clouds that move across its face. This is a breathtaking image, Alina -- it shows us the familiar (we have all seen sunsets before) in an unfamiliar and evocative way. You give new life to old visions. I discuss an image that I made of a similar subject (but in a different way) athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/33923616 You might want to read my analysis and the wonderful comments that were posted about it, as well as my own responses to them. It will make the image that you have created here become even more meaningful to you.
