Compact, light, bargain priced and surprisingly sharp. Colour is very muddy (magenta/brown skew)but the big issue is near chronic purple fringing, it appears throughout images and in abundance at times.
Very useful 1:2 close focussing at 180-300mm is annoying to use, one needs to switch to MF when moving between 'Normal' and 'Macro' focus ranges. $150US brand new so it is worth trying if you need the extra range over the DA 50-200mm.
Yes you are right, I guess I am normally focussing in tight so find I have to fiddle a little ;)

Nicely done! I have this lens and find it quite useful. The only thing I would change regarding your comments is that you do not have to change to MF to go between Normal & Macro focus ranges. When I am in Macro mode, if I focus on something fairly distant I can switch easily back into Normal mode.

Try a Tamron-F 1.4X Tel-converter with this. Surprisingly good, even in Macro.
