Hello Alexis,
It was a nice surprise to see photos of my father and some of his paintings. A couple of years ago, someone took some pictures of Manastiri as it is now. I'll scan them and send them to you.

H Alexis,

I enjoyed looking around your gallery. initially I was interested in the Sigma 8mm images as I am thinking of buying this lens for my 400D. Then I noticed the Kap gallery which is really interesting. I realise you use the intervalometer for the shutter release.

Best wishes Barry

I know it's a long shot, but here goes. I lived in Cyprus between 70 and 74, my parents and I lived in (if I can remember) Koumipa flats on John F Kennedy Avenue. Here comes the long shot bit! I was a 8 or 9 year old then and stared in an advert for condensed milk (Galla Sissi). I was wondering, if by any chance you would know of any archive of old TV ads from Cyprus.
All the best

Thankyou for an informative site.
In 1959 I lived in an apartment that was part of the Hadjisoteriou family home in Hippocrates St across the road from Alassi Beach. My father worked for the British government and I went to King Richard School in Dhekelia. I remember your parents (I think your Mother's name was Maroula?). They had a new baby - presumably you! We had a wonderful three years in Famagusta despite the situation at the time.

For people who want to mark individual buildings and places on the satellite maps, there is an amazing application based on Google maps at http://www.wikimapia.org

Basically, you can outline an area on the map and then enter a description. Satellite imagery of Varosha and Famagusta is in the coverage area.

For those who still remember individual buildings and places, it is an amazing way to bring the city back to life by annotating it for others.

what an excellent site!! myself and a few friends were hoping to visit next month as mistakenly thought that we might visit varosha - the greek side of famagusta. unfortunatley, it appears that we are unable to do so. we were stationed at 4 mile point in the sixties and many of lived in the town - kennedy avenue, miaoulis street, etc.
we are all cyrofiles and retain a great love of the area. many of us now live in cyprus - most around paphos but some in larnaca = the best of luck with the site

Tut tut tut...
What can i say Alexi, I am deeply disappointed in you!! I thought you might have learned something from spending soo much time with me and my sis, but obviously i was mistaken.. I feel that my nation has been abused and used. The achievement was great, but not that great for you to form a SOuth Croydon "GREEK" (capitals as well) possie. Please.. I feel very offended, and i am not sure i can handle the misery you have imposed on my innocent soul. I only hope that you are anintelligent enough person to learn from your mistakes, and improve for the better!! Its not too late to make up for your mistakes!! I feel that in this message i have been polite enough and have restrained from using any foul language. the rest has been said by my sister, i a way that i must admit, is rather up-front (I am very proud of her). I wish you all the best for the learning curve you are going to embark on. GOOD LUCK!!
Kind regards
Ias.

Good evening kind sir!

Im sorry, did u see any cypriot players in the tournament???

Aside from the anger and offence that i felt toward some of the people pictured in your street schenes (we dont have greek skinheads!!!!!!!!!!) i must say some shots are extreemly well taken-I suppose nash did them??!!

Anywhooo got that out of my system! hope all is well enjoy your holiday and Nash thanks for your message below!!

loads of love *Danae!

Please confırm my memory or correct me ıf ı am wrong. Are u the boy from Famagusta, short and a lıttlebıt fat(no offence - ı do not mean big! just a bit fatty. I remember you breakıng your arm once durıng skııng on Troodos. Your most popular frıend was Evangelos?? I am not even exactly sure of the name. But was a well buılt pallıkary boy.
Valıandes was one of the other names ı remember well from your adress list. His house was ın Neapolı. Anyway, my regards to all English school frıends. I would love to host each and everyone of you when you are ın the north. Althaugh we are not yet at the stage of establishıng a solutıon, ı belıeve that we are one step closer now. We ın the North; wıll contınue to put pressure on the occupatıon forces and the puppet Denktash regime, and we need your support.
Please let all my frıends know of my telephones. I am not wrıtımg bthe adress, because when u are ın the north just ask for Birinci to any body and you wıll surely be shown where to go.

Dear Alexi,
You don't know me. I'm Catherine Solomides' daughter. I'm studying in London now and she sent me the letter you wrote to Kufi and the link to your pictures. Of course I'm only nineteen so all I have seen of the north is pictures. I have to say the ones you took are really beautiful but also very sad for me because in spite of the unique opportunity that is before us right now, most people I have talked to seem to be so negative that I'm beginning to think again that all my generation are going to see of the north are pictures.
Thank you,
Elena

Dear Alexis,
Many thanks for the photos. It was really an excellent idea. Also, thanks for letting us
shares the photos you took of Famagusta etc. Your first photo looks no different than the one I took 5 years ago.
Thanks and hope that it doen't take another 5 years before we meet again.

Alexi, it was good to see you last Friday after such a long time. The photos from the reunion are excellent, equally good the ones from the North.
I visit London 3/4 times a year as I am the Chairman of our UK subsidiary, SFS International Securities Ltd which is based in North London. Lets try and meet during my next visit sometime in December with Costas Kaplanis also. My mobile no. is +35799651265.
Best regards.
Philip.
