Drip torch work

Wombeyan Caves, New South Wales

One of the most effective techniques for fighting a bush fire does not use any water whatsoever. Here a Deputy Captain from the Mittagong Brigade is lighting a line using a drip torch at a fire near Wombeyan Caves in late 2011. Properly located such a burn can stop an advancing fire dead.
