Abandonned mine and harbour

King Island, Tasmania, Australia

More than twenty years the small town of Grassy on the south eastern corner of King Island was a busy mining town. Scheelite was mined to produce tunsgten. When mining ceased the open cut mine became a large water body.

Here you can see the old open cut mine with the breakwater of Grassy Harbour in the background.
