The Hamlet of Maryhill Washington and the surrounding landmarks.

From 1907 until 1939, Sam Hill was instrumental in the development of the area known as Maryhill, on the southern border of Washington state, overlooking the Columbia River.

He built a replica of Stonehenge, as it would have originally looked, as well as a palatial estate that he donated to the State as a museum. Today it holds many examples of Native American art and artifacts, as well as many of the treasures of Queen Marie of Romania, with whom he had become friends.
