High Country of Butte County, Calif., June 26, 2011

A ride on June 26 toward Humboldt Peak, which at a little more than 7,000 feet is Butte County's highest point, took me past Stirling City, Inskip, Butte Meadows and Jonesville. Surprising to me, despite the daytime warmth, old stubborn patches of snow on the road turned me around nine miles above Butte Meadows on Humboldt Road. Photos ŠAlan Sheckter / AlSheck@comcast.net.
