The sprint car and team that won the first World of Outlaws A-main event in 1978 at Devils Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas was reunited at the All American Vintage Classic in Roseville, California. Pictured left to right are Joel McCray, chief mechanic Kenny Woodruff and driver Jimmy Boyd. Woodruff is currently a chief mechanic on the tough World of Outlaws Circuit, and flew in special to be reunited with his team and for his induction into the West Capital Raceway Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
The All American Vintage Classic featured more than 100 vintage open-wheel racers in exhibition runs on All American Speedway's high-banked quarter-mile paved oval. The two-day affair was a sensational success, and has been slated for a return engagement to the Placer County Fairgrounds on September 14th and 15th, 2007.
