Wrapped

May 04/2006... almost one year after I've uploaded this photo,
I've decided to bring a "normal size" version here to Pbase.
The first one was much smaller as I was just starting with
photos here and didn't feel confortable about uploding this
one full sized. But now here it is :)

Kodak DX7630
1/60s f/2.8 at 8.0mm iso100 with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Love this shot,it gives me an uneasy feeling because of the strange texture, the wet(?)hair
clinging to you almost with a life of it`s own is very scary, but it is really a great SP with lots of emotion and very, very personal.Great work!Voted!:-)

Very dramatic self p Ana - your hair has a life of its own, drawing snake-like streams around you.The caramel tones of the wall waiting to absorb you when the hair has finished its work. Glad you managed to escape this!

There is some darkness and mystery within a lot of your pictures, like in this one. A very personal creative style.

You are gagged with a desperate look in your eyes that says you want to speak out. Your hair is alive, as Ruth says you are being gagged by a part of yourself. Powerful and disturbing. The wrapped hair around your neck is suffocating, it almost seems to tighten as you watch it. Simply a great image. The texture your create is what makes the hair look so 3-D and alive, and as Phil says turns it into a living candle, statuesque. Well done Ana.

Hi Ana
Well you have really come up with quite a disturbing image with this one. It look to me like you are slowing melting away soon to be molten wax forever. Great Imagination and creativity!

This is a wonderfully disturbing image. Your hair looks to me like the roots or even blood vessels of some terrible creature and yet it is you yourself.

This one is just simply special Ana.

a fantastic self-portrait, Ana. i love this image because you are tied up and trapped and practically gagged....by a part of yourself. the wax effect is like you are melting away...but you have made this image and you aren't going anywhere. you are there, strong and can stand firmly. this to me mainly speaks of how, no matter who or what has led us to where we are, it is only ourselves who can choose to keep ourselves there or move on. you are bound by a part of yourself here, and i think that stands for a lot more. the choices are yours...and the realisation of that is always both incredibly frustrating but also amazingly liberating. hope that makes sense!
i admire and respect you for daring like you have done here. i hope we see the image size gradually increasing in pixels as you gain confidence in your beauty and your ability with a camera.

oh! i was gonna say this is so successful you apply plastic wrap to a bathroom shot~
and then i read phil's comments and it came house of wax!!

Bem conseguida. Gosto bastante do aspecto conceptual da foto bem como da "plasticidade" no tratamento.

Thank you Phill!
About the size, well even I was scared when I saw it really big... This one deals with a lot of things like you so well pointed out and it was a first step into the unknown, so I've decided to keep it small. Maybe in the future I'll be able to dare more, this was as far as I could go now :-)

This image is a superb example of incongruity, abstraction and human values all tied up in the same package, Ana. You have bound and gagged yourself with your own hair and then electronically processed the image to transform the entire image into a molten plate of wax ,a living candle! A shocking and disturbing image, utterly transforming yourself from a vital human being to a captive of a dehumanized world. You took me up on my dare, Ana, and used your imagination in a way you probably have never used it before. I am in awe of your talents, and I salute you for risking and stretching as you did. My only suggestion: size your image larger -- try 1000 pixels on the wide or longest side, to bring up detail and make your shock even more shocking.

looks like u are getting to be liquid here...and...your look is so different without your eyeglasses......strange.......starnge...strange.........A.
