We will use this site for posting some of the Manitou Beach 2009 images we take over the following months.
:: Night images ::

November 2006 images taken with a Pentax *isD, Sigma 18-200mm lens, and a Manfrotto tripod.
Fireworks- July 04, 2007 , taken with a Pentax K10D while vacationing in Medora, North Dakota.
March 2009 images of the International Space Platform - K10D. Exif data is available. The first two images were shot right out of my drive way and the street light bounced into one of the images, unavoidable. I was testing out using a Sigma 105mm macro fixed lens, and it appears this is an excellent lens for this type of photography. Image 1797. For some reason the camera shutter would not release with my cable. I then had to turn off the camera switch and that is what causes the little trace movement you see at the end of the pass. The space shuttle was attached during these shots and it was a very bright trace in the sky. I then went out several nights later and decided to try using a 350mm mirror lens. Wrong choice. First of all while it is very easy to focus manually, it can be focused "past" infinity. Secondly, too strong a focal length to use. Hard to focus in on a rapidly moving object in the sky. And as you can see, even with a tripod, there is movement. The buildings you see were approximately one mile from my location.
:: Nature ::

The crocuses you eventually come to were photographed early afternoon on April 27, 2007, and again around 7:30pm.This area is along a biking/hiking path on the east side of the South Saskatchewan River, approximately 2km north of the University of Saskatchewan. Lens: 105mm fixed Sigma macro lens.
No alterations or enhancements have been made to any of these images except to reduce the size.
The ducks and swans were photographed around the Watrous area on May 3rd, 2007
The Prairie Lilies, commonly called tiger lilies (flower emblem of Saskatchewan). I found these on July10, 2007, while doing maintenance on a geo-cache site with our grandson Kyle. I did not have my big camera gear with me but did have along a Nikon CoolPix 800 that I recently purchased on Ebay for $40.00. I am really pleased with that piece of gear. UPDATE: (coolpix destroy by water while on The Maid of The Mist, Niagara Falls, October 2007)
The July 30, 2007 images were taken around 7am, during a very foggy morning at Manitou Lake, approximately 1km east of our cottage.
