The town of Tortuguero and Tortuguero National Park are located in the extreme northeast of Costa Rica, on the Caribbean coast, just south of the Nicaraguan border. There are no roads; the only way to get there is by plane and/or boat. The area is best known for the giant sea turtles that lay their eggs on the beach. Unfortunately, we just missed the end of the green sea turtle nesting season and were too early for the leatherback season. Nevertheless, there was plenty to see and do as these pictures show.
