Tucked in among the malls and suburban sprawl of Montgomery County, Maryland, just north of Washington, DC, Garrett Park retains a small town flavor. Famous for its Victorian houses and its trees - the entire town is designated an arboretum - Garrett Park also boasts a wonderful array of azaleas. They are just approaching their peak in these shots taken in early May 2004. For a look at Garrett Park in the fall, see Fall Colors in Garrett Park, MD - November 2007 .
Azaleas are wonderful, yet only a single shrub species of more than 700 within our Arboretum. Please visit our growing and spectacular tree species and cultivars. For instance, my Arboretum committee has guided more than 40 new tree plantings along our roadways and parks in 2004 alone. Come visit Garrett Park, Maryland more often, for Spring, Fall, and Winter tree fiestas. Tom Rodes, Chairman
