At one time steel and related industries were the lifeblood of the Illawarra but as is the case with so many "rust belt" towns the industry is gradually withering. However it still has some life in it yet.
This is not smoke but steam, seen from the Bluescope Steel Mills.
This is the final in a group of shots that I did this morning to test the Olympus Image Share app's GPS tagging; in this case I had moved a couple of kilometres south from Northbeach, the site of the earlier shots, to City Beach.
As noted earlier to say that the app is fiddly would be an understatement but once you get the methodology down it's pretty easy to follow. First, you have to remember to turn on Geotagging in the app. (I suppose that you could leave it running constantly but I shudder to think about the battery life it would churn through or the size of the log it would create.) Then you take some photos. Then you turn off geotagging. Then you turn on the camera's WiFi and have your phone connect to it. The app will tag all of the photos with their GPS locations. Repeat as needed.
As long as you have a phone signal, it can make sure that you never need to look at a shot again and ponder, "So where was that taken?"
