I have never posted more than one shot per day in my PAD galleries, because of course it is Photo (singular) A Day. However this is a PESO gallery, meaning that I have more latitude. I'll be posting two when we had been on the road and the day was divided into two significant parts.
In this case we went to Pisa in the morning, and a winery in Greve in Chianti in the afternoon.
And being Pisa... what else but the tower for the opening shot? Right alongside the Cathedral, naturally, to emphasise the lean. The other noticeable thing about this is the very top level which, as you can see, is somewhat more perpendicular than the rest of the tower. The guys who built this thing were unlucky, not stupid. They were screwed by the water table but the fact that the thing has started to lean did not escape their attention. They therefore adjusted the construction to try to shift the centre of gravity back. Of course gravity is a heartless bitch, and so it denied their efforts. But on the other hand, it did give them a world famous tourist attraction, which is forever condemned to have people taking photos of them "holding it up".
