20120120_21228 Dental Days (Fri 20 Jan)

At Home, Sydney, NSW

I present for your amusement another "kinda sorta still life with movement" image. In this case, one which reflects the fact that I had an appointment with the dentist this morning to have a second set of fillings done.

The anaesthetic numbed everything from the top of my ears to my neck on the left side, meaning that when the dentist told me to bite down to check the fit of the fillings he had to say "no, hang on, you're biting your tongue".

Although there was a mild amount of discomfort on occasion, after the needle went in I didn't feel much. Indeed, for the next couple of hours I didn't feel much. So much so that I couldn't eat anything lest I bite my tongue again with no-one there to tell me to stop. I also had to see the GP about a minor matter but first had to mumble through my paralysed left lips "Domnt mworry, I habn't had a stroke". It brought to mind an old Paul Hogan sketch about the after effects of such a treatment. The dentist told him to spit into the bowl "but I couldn't have hit that bowl if it was the Pacific Ocean".

The pain in the wallet was more acutely felt with $175 being budgeted, but the total cost being substantially north of $300. That after paying the quarterly electricity and telephone bills last week, and car registration due next week as well. No amount of dental anaesthetic could prevent that from being felt.

LOL at your story. I always love trying to drink something after novacaine and having it dribble down my chin. Perfect fun photo to accompany it.

January is often a painful month, and you seem to have got more than your fair share here.

What a great idea for showing some motion! On the matter of money, it seems that when we either budget for a specific amount, or save a little...something new always comes knocking on the money door.
