1970 - Northeast B727 final approach over US 1 at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport stock photo
US1, Ft. Lauderdale, FL
This scene, facing south, depicts what US 1 (Federal Highway) east of the airport looked like before everything was bulldozed and a new US 1 was built.
As a young teanager I would fly Northeast from MIA to BOS for summer vacation and still have ticket jackets from the carrier. My first job at FLL was as a fueler for ASI and my first assignment was to refuel a Northeast Yellowbird. I went on to join National as an operations agent but never forgot Northeast and the role it played in my aviation career.
