Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida

Thank you to CDR Bob Treat, USCGR-Ret. for contributing this great old image. CDR Treat was my reserve unit Executive Officer and then Commanding Officer in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Prior to his service in the USCG Reserve he was on active duty with the USCG at Coast Guard Air Station Miami and served as an Albatross ("Goat" in Coast Guard language) pilot. He worked for Resorts International while in the Reserve and he was instrumental in getting the Japanese Self-Defense Force Albatrosses across the Pacific to South Florida for conversion and certification into G-111 passenger aircraft for use by Chalk's International Airlines. The Albatrosses had never been certificated by the FAA for civilian passenger use. After Resorts International he flew B737's for Challenge Air International, Midway Airlines and Southwest Airlines. He is now retired from Southwest Airlines and lives upstate in Florida.
