I took this photo during the FAA-grounding (by revoking the aircraft type certificate) of all DC-10's from June 6 through July 13, 1979 after an American Airlines DC-10 crash at Chicago O'Hare International Airport on May 25, 1979. American was fined $500,000 for improper maintenance procedures by using a forklift to remove the engine and the pylon instead of removing the engine first and then the pylon. They cracked the pylon when using the crude cost-saving way of reattaching the engine and pylon to the wing. Please click on "original" below to see this image at the largest size.
