1858 Remington New Model Army - .44 Caliber

This was one of the major handguns of the Civil War, introduced in 1863 in the middle years of the war. It was primarily used by the North (where it was manufactured), although frequently acquired by the South through "battlefield supply", and continued to be extremely popular after the war. The 1858 date was the Remington patent date, not the manufacture date. This is my historically accurate working replica by Uberti, which is made in Italy. Notice the full blued barrel, frame, and loading lever; color casehardened hammer; brass trigger guard; and European walnut grips.
