Spring is a hectic period as wildflowers and tree blossoms burst forth with colour. Yellows and whites are not easy to reproduce accurately. I use spot metering and underexpose by around -0.3. Auto WB works well most of the time but I'd recommend setting manual WB on a piece of white card. In compact cameras, switch to macro or supermacro modes. For dSLR, I always set zoom to maximum (filling the frame). Keep shutter speeds around 1/125s or faster. Switch to higher ISO if neccessary.
