Instamatic Observations

I took my Kodak Instamatic 500 for a short adventure this past weekend, loaded with
Solaris (Ferrania) 200asa color negative film, which was already 2 years beyond expiry date.
All things considered, I was pleased with the slightly funky Ferrania color, especially the
color shifts, and as always, amazed by the detail provided by the Schneider-Kreuznach
Xenar 1:2.8/38mm lens which easily produces 16"x16" prints from a ~ 28mmx28mm
negative (by comparison a regular 35mm negative is ~ 24mmx36mm). This German
built Kodak 'Instamatic' truly was an aristocrat among the 126 Cartridge 'point and shoots'.
