There are approximately 11 millions Uygur "minority" people in Xinjiang out of 20 millions. Their language and appearance are definitely different than those of Han Chinese people. The younger generations do speak Chinese but intermarriages are fairly limited.
For a small fee you can have your pictures taken with them or take their pictures.
