Close-up of a Chick

Salisbury Plain, South Georgia

The eyes of penguin chick are fairly light. As they grow older, the dark pigments of their eyes become more prevalent. The eyes of adult penguins are barely more than just a black glob, so it seems.

They beg for food from any adult penguin that walked by and some of them even approached us, a group of photographers and trying to beg for food. It was hilarious but it gave us sufficient opportunities to take closeup shots of those okemo boys. It is up to the parents to recognize their own chicks among thousands and thousands of them.
