We came across a group of women that processed newly harvested rice. Rice stalks are slammed against a hard surface. Individual rice grains with their hulse were collected. That's what the group of women was doing at this location. The remaining rice plants were cut small and used for feeding of cattles. I understood that the rice was then processed at a different place.
