Kodak DC290 - 1999

A weird monster of a thing, it looks like the earlier DC260 received a dose of steroids and some alien DNA.
Launched (escaped?) in August 1999, it has 2.1 megapixels,
came with an ungenerous 2MB CF card (that's right, two!) and used 4 AA batteries.
It's a heavy thing but has a solid grip and quite a good viewfinder.
It was expensive in it's time and is still capable of sharp results in ideal conditions - the girl's eyes are pin sharp -although the colour is too blue.
However, the dynamic range is lousy by modern standards
(note the black tyre in my white pick-up tray - the detail in the paintwork is gone).
I had to use a Lightroom graduated exposure adjustment for the racetrack shot.

Note also that my example is eBay 'well used' - that is, beaten up,
horrible and with most of the indicators worn off it.
Fortunately, Kodak's menus are very intuitive and it still works well.
