Trains travel alongside the famous Route 66 near Devore, California, and up the Cajon Pass enroute to the high desert and Barstow, California. The famous pass, which winds its way through beautiful and unusual rock formations, is home to dozens of mile-long trains during the early morning hours. Further east along this route is Kelso, built in the early 1900s and restored a few years ago. Recently, the UPs 844, the last steam engine purchased by the company, made a stop at the restored station. Lots of photographers made the trek to the station, along a back route to Las Vegas.
